The Club – A Historic Working Men's Club In North London
About
Located on Green Lanes in North London, The Club is a rare surviving example of a traditional London working men’s club. Established in 1910 and occupying its current premises since 1915, it evolved from a large double fronted residential building that was gradually extended to accommodate a growing social and entertainment venue. Today it remains largely unmodernised in feel, offering an authentic and increasingly rare example of this type of London institution.
The entrance opens into a traditional lounge bar, with original decorative detailing, classic furnishings and the familiar atmosphere of a long established social club. The space retains a lived in quality that reflects decades of continuous use, making it particularly suitable for productions looking for an authentic community setting.
From here, the building extends deep into the site to a substantial function hall. This main space centres around a timber dance floor surrounded by seating, with a small raised stage at one end and a long bar running along the side. The hall has a strong sense of scale while still feeling intimate and characterful, offering multiple angles and set-ups within a single room.
At first floor level, a large snooker room provides an additional environment, containing four full size tables beneath simple, traditional interiors. Together, the ground floor bar, function hall and upper level snooker room create a layered set of backdrops that remain visually consistent in their period character.
The venue has long served as a community and social space, hosting entertainment, gatherings and events for generations. Its appeal lies in its honesty and continuity, with minimal stylistic interference over time, preserving a sense of how these clubs once functioned at the heart of local social life.
The club also benefits from on site parking and ground floor step free access.
A rare, intact example of a traditional London social club, offering production ready spaces with genuine period character and a distinctly unpolished atmosphere.
