Traditional Working Men’s Club in East London

About

An authentic representation of a classic Working Men’s Club, established in 1888, and one of the last untouched venues of its kind in London. The exterior showcases red brick with restrained baroque detailing, while the interior retains original 1960s and 1970s decor.

The venue features a large main hall with a proscenium arch stage, dance floor, high ceilings, balcony, and bar. The upstairs minor hall offers a raised stage area, its own bar, and is bathed in natural light, furnished with original 1970s pieces. In the basement, the members’ bar is filled with memorabilia from a bygone era. A hidden gem lies in the vast Victorian snooker hall, one of London’s oldest and largest, featuring nine tables, a remarkable collection of cues, and a 3 ft wide brass clock watched over by old father time.

The location includes space for costume, hair, and make-up, with tech parking arrangements available on weekends and school holidays, and through Hackney Council at other times.
